BLAH
I spend half an hour writing a long heart felt blog post and for some reason it did not save and now I'm mad and have to try again to match the perfection of my last effort, here we go again..
The Indonesian version of Ukrainian Easter eggs
Theres the easy way to do this, where you build the boat before putting it in the glass and then popping it up. And then there's the way he did this, putting it
We learned how to weave cloths!
Painting on velvet
Some aspects of traditional Indonesian homes from all over the country.
Creepy wall of dolls that were supposed to represent what a funeral looks like..
Will for sure be giving me nightmares
Traditional puppets!
Feast your eyes on this amazingness
We have traded the crowded culture town of Ubud for the black sandy beaches of Amed.
Ubud was good, just a tad too crowded due to the start of tourist season. We spent a day travelling the country side and seeing the beautiful rice fields with a friend we made, a local who owns a restaurant we ate/met him at. He also
Took us to "Tanna Nusa" a cool musuem type place that showed all the different cultures, arts, and homes of all the different places in Indonesia.
Rice field. Giri said that you always see the locals taking photos of it constantly. After living in a mountain town I know how easy it is to get used to a beautiful view, it's cool to hear they haven't.
Together and hooking it all with little
Chopsticks, so detailed and time
Consumming!
We also had a great tour guide named Wayane, him and I have the same
Humour so we were always laughing and he helped make it a really great day!
We also went to a Traditional Balinese show at the royal palace. It was interesting! The music was trance
Like and their eyes freakishly moving with the beat.
I think it's safe to say so far we have made the most friends with the locals more than anybody else. Which is fine by me, we learn a lot about their day to day life and culture. Which makes me feel so lucky to live the life that i do, and the amount of freedom I have. We went to an ice cream shop down the road everyday. It was sooo good, fresh fruit Popsicles dipped in Italian dark chocolate oh my god I miss it already. Anyways, our friend that works there (can't recall her name now) was telling us that in her village if you marry you are forced to move into the husbands home with your mother in law even if you don't get along. And that if you drink, smoke, or have tattoos the elders will shun you. Also, if you pregnant a women you marry her and start a family no matter what, no other option. The list of rules goes on but those are the ones that really stuck out to me. So different then the way our country works, It may vary for every village, but the fact there is that they still have villages at all.
I like Amed, the beach is rocky not sandy but the ocean is the coldest we have expienced yet to make up for it. We are just going to spend our last bit of time together having lazy beach days. Been having money problems now, not all
The ATMs work with my bank and I get locked out easily and have to call my
