Bonnie&Clyde

I'm writing this one on the road and taking my chances because there's a 50/50 chance that it's going to give me car sickness, and  I'll puke in yoshis beloved x-trail but I like living dangerously . Blueberry picking had its up and downs, like any job. It was fun in the way we worked with the funniest two Japanese men by the names of Ken and Now. They were nothing but happy and a pleasure to pick with, we tried to go out for a beer with them on our last day but Ken had a cold and he said he needed to go to hungry jacks (Australian Burger King) and get a box and go to bed. Of course how can you have a bad day really when you get an endless supply of blueberries to munch on? The downs came in people form, one by the name of Phil. Trying to pick beside somebody who makes comments about how he hates refugees because they take jobs meant for Australians for less pay and basically if your not 100% Australian bred you do not belong in his country, was extremely difficult for me, how badly I wanted to say something to him numerous times but not wanting to make a big scene with somebody I had to spend 8 hours of my day with. And then of course he got along great with the man renting the house on the property who shared it with his wife and 4 children. They are junkies who scream at eachother loud enough to hear it from the other side of the field and are doing burnouts beaide the kids who are throwing around an oil dipstick... On our last day Terry our boss finally asked them to leave because it was just out of control... I was beginning to question what kind of person he was to let that happen on his land and somewhat satisfied to walk away from it feeling like he's an a o k guy.

We stayed in a few other beautiful camp spots in the area, made some more pretty damn good meals, like Moroccan burgers and "bush" chili. I feel like travelling gypsies really, we bath in the ocean and rivers, I even saw a sting ray
the one day while washing the shampoo out of my hair,  something I usually don't find my self sharing a bath with. My favourite spot had to be emarald beach and then captain cooks lookout gave it a runs for it money the very next night. As cheesy as it sounds waking up with the sun as it rises over the ocean after falling asleep to the sounds of waves every night is something that makes me thankful to be alive. We even got to see whales this morning from the lookout, pretty spectacular. Bonnie and JB have met up with us and we are all travelling to Newcastle together for the concert this weekend, unfornetly bittersweet due to it  being my last weekend with them for what will be a little while as well as my last time seeing Linden before he heads back to Canada, but we definitely will go out with a bang.

  1. Looks wonderful Hannah! Lucky you to wakeup and go to sleep to the sound of waves!!
And I am with you on the annoying people who are racist and bigoted! Funny, too as Australia was settled by those who were immigrants and took the land from the indigenous peoples. But those brainless people never think of that!!
Good to read your story and I love the picture of you in the tree!!!
