That was then this is now
This post is EXTREMELY delayed, but as everybody knows the time seems to speed up unannounced to any of us over the holidays. Although it never did feel like Christmas to me this year around, and i greatly missed friends and family, we still managed to celebrate the holidays in our own way. We got ourselves a hotel for two nights. It may not have been a five star hotel but it sure damn well felt like it after you live in car. Microwave, fridge, a bed that you can lay on all sides of your body in, was an amazing treat. The best treat of all hands down was the air condition, it was a brisk 40-45 degrees in Adelaide over Christmas making our beach plans or any plans at all go down the tube as we spent the day watching the tube instead. I never realized before but Christmas is really different in other country's, they definitely do not have any white Christmas carols here and even the decorations are different (picture kangaroo orientated.) The dinner was different than my usual tradition with family, we made a classic salad, steaks, and potatoes and it was lovely, we ate beside my make shift Christmas tree that was a green towel i found in the hotel placed over the garbage can with free soap decorations and an iron in front center with an avocado as the star on top.
We visited a beautiful lighthouse as well
Literally living life on the edge
Then we took selfies on the edge
While visiting the light house my body also decided it was time to get the flu and I threw up on the lighthouse, I now have thrown up on a temple, a lighthouse and an airplane Tarmac, Something to add the to resume
Me and all our creature friends
Well taking this photo I was sitting up on a bridge and 10 minutes later the police showed up as somebody had called them and told them there was a suicidal person trying to Jump into the gutters..
Our cute friend Aisha
Yoshi also spoiled me with a new lens I didn't get a chance to use until the day we visited the waterfall
There is a bee hiding in there
China set
Fourth state I've been too in Australia!
Then I sat life on the edge
We then were invited to stay in the home of our friend, Aisha, we met here in Melbourne and they were extremely hospitable and so giving. They had a bit of a zoo going, with a lizard, a bird, and a dog, making the stay that much better. Aisha showed us the beautiful hills of Adelaide and we also did some exploring of our own. We went chasing more waterfalls, and played basketball, but the heat in Adelaide is next to unbearable, forcing all adventures to be limited. It's a heat that sucks your energy out and leaves you with a migraine, it also burns your skin time and time again no matter the amount of sunscreen you wear. After that we were welcomed into my other friends home Britty Clakes, who i was good friends with in Fernie last season. We spent a week and a day with her and her family and she made it one of the best weeks of my time in Australia so far. She had two dogs so we were still embraced with lots of puppy love, as well as love from her family. She made a bucket list/Itinerary for us for every single day we were there. We went on long walks, on and off the beach, to an old school movie theater were you pay $10 for two movies in a row which at that time was James Bond "Specter" and one of the best movies i have seen in a long time "The Walk" which is Philipe Petits story of how he tight rope walked across the twin towers, was incredible! Britty is doing her outdoor guide training in university so she is certified to take us rock climbing and that was worth the 6 am start. We climbed in the beautiful Morialta valley, i forgot how much rock climbing is a mind game more than anything else. We also checked out Adelaide's art gallery, which i would say was better than the one in Melbourne surprisingly, it was a nice mix of different international art as well as contemporary. The shopping streets off to the side were always busy where we caught a really unique street act of an indigenous man making funky beats with his didgeridoo, as well as playing bongo drums and hitting bells and with all that somehow managed to shoot me a peace sign when i gave him a few bucks. Although our friends were able to make Adelaide more of a special place than it ever could be on its own, the work just isn't available like it is in Melbourne so we made the 10 hour drive in a day and went backwards. We have decided to work and live here for a few months to make life a bit easier in the future so we are putting the road trip on hold for awhile.
That was a first
This is the also the spot where Yoshi and I came New Years night and watched all the fireworks go off all over the city, and watch the twinkling lights off the city beneath the stars, was a wonderful way to welcome 2016
House hunting has been an interesting experience already thus far, a new grown up experience for me as i have never had to house search yet. The first room we inspected which the add promised was a a shared house with another couple turned out to be a bike affiliated house that was part time a massage parlor... he also wanted us to sign a contract with the first rule stating under no circumstances are we allowed visitors at anytime. So after that i tried to have no expectations for our future roomies, we found another house that was perfect and shared with a newly engaged Irish couple, but the owner of that house decided to go with the other people who were planning on staying there much longer than us. With our luck dying out we did find a room with an acquaintance Yoshi knows from up north, so we are sleeping on a futon for the next few days as we wait until we can move in. Job hunting has been better here than anywhere we have been and i am staying as optimistic as can be. For the record no cafes will hire you unless you are a professional coffee maker ruling out half the business's in Melbourne. A part of me is sad our travels have ceased but then again there was a part of me that knew i would be back to Melbourne soon. Wish us luck!
You are right I was in tears before I read the caption, beautiful,. Great pictures and how you describe everything. Good luck finding a job. Thanks so much for taking us along your experiences it has been wonderful.❤️❤️❤️
ReplyDeleteHi Hannah, I am love with those flowers too! They are called agapanthus. I hope that is spelt right. They were growing in my brother's yard in Sydney.

Good luck in finding a job.

Yup that definitely IS a Grandma photo! You should take more of those. I adore your shots, I can't believe the cops would show up from someone taking photos standing on top of a ledge. Glad to see you moved on from Adelaid, although it did look fairly dreamy there. Love you Hannah. Glad to see you're still bushwaking it and loving it. :)
ReplyDeleteYou look so beautiful Hannah, and incredibly happy. So proud of you!
