The Mountains of Mexico

Photo's series from a recent trip to San Miguel De Allende. It was a girls trip that included my gdawg (grandma), my auntie Terra, and yours truly. It was special spending time in the mountains of Mexico and not your typical beach destination. We made homemade margaritas, and beautiful memories that bring the feeling of sunshine and a sore stomach from bad mole.

Canadians have earned themselves an international stereotype of being “friendly, nice people.” Generally, most people are, but I also have been living in a small ski town for years where you say hi and stop for a chat with every passerby. Kyushu, we lava yu.

Like I've mentioned before, we have really tried on this trip to take it easy and not squeeze every last place in. We have visited the main island Honshu, Shikoku, and now Kyushu. Kyushu we decided to go to because it warms up first, and seems to have plenty of off the beaten track spots. Or maybe its off the beaten path in low season time. Either way, often we never saw another obvious tourists and that is always a little cool. We decided that our last two weeks were going to be in cities. So we immersed ourselves in nature. With one day checking out Mount Aso, and active volcano that was actually letting out a dangerous amount of sulphur at the time we visited. So unfortunately,  we couldn't hike it. Since 2009, the town  has just re-opened for the first time in February of this year, so we were thankful for what we got! I have been blown away by the diversity of Japan. Barf day

Sooo Probably the best birthday, yet? Maybe ever? Spent the morning kyaking down the Kampot river. Super beautiful and something I've wanted to do since we got here. Skyped with family which made my entire day that much better. And then went to a spa... I don't know if I actually like spas or not, don't get me wrong it was extremely relaxing but being dotted on isn't really my thing. Minus a head Massage, in fact if anybody in Saskatoon or Fernie wants to make a deal with me,  I help you help me, baddabing baddaboom , we can make this a weekly Thing and help each other out.  After the spa we went back home and I put on makeup for the first time in about a year and went downstairs to have the champagne(finally) the place we are staying at surprised me with a cake and candle and sang me happy birthday and it was the sweetest thing.  Then we went to the bar with our Irish buds and finished the night off.
