I enjoy long walks on the beach & beer

I woke up to a very annoying girl who unfortunetley was Canadian, complaining for the whole dorm to hear about how the local people don't know what a vegetarian is and how stupid they are for questioning her about it. While I'm half awake thinking about how stupid she is. I spent a few hours emailing and googling volunteer places, I'm starting to get some positive results now which is exciting! Hopefully something works its self out soon. And after that I went for a walk.  And that's all I did, I just kept walking. I almost felt like Forrest Gump when he just started running for no reason and started a whole movement, my "movement" wasn't as dramatic. I walked along the beach all the way to Denpasar and back, it was a nice way to spend the day really. Especially when I hung out with a group of older ladies who put a few braids in my hair, they chatted me up and were super funny. My favorite lady named Lily even gave me her Orange and a free of charge...

Goodbyes suck.

Well. We drove from Amed to Kuta today, only a 2 hour drive and dropped our bags off at the airport lockers and carried on to the mall for some last minute much needed items.   After checking my bank account which is always scary I now realize that I didn't budget so well on this trip and am pretty low on cash, but on the upside I won't be buying much from here on out other than a place to rest my head and cheap.. Very cheap food. Which is perfectly fine with me.  Natalie and I basically didn't do much today, just enjoyed each other's company and she kept hitting me for being a sap all day. We had pizza for our last meal together, obviously.  I'm really horrible with goodbyes, I usually don't cry and I get super awkward but not this time. We both shed some tears and I already miss her. It feels so weird already to be on my own.. Actually looking back  now I handled that really badly. We walked to the aiport and so after our goodbye I had to find my dorm  W...

I spend half an hour writing a long heart felt blog post and for some reason it did not save and now I'm mad and have to try again to match the perfection of my last effort, here we go again.. We have traded the crowded culture town of Ubud for the black sandy beaches of Amed.  Ubud was good, just a tad too crowded due to the start of tourist season. We spent a day travelling the country side and seeing the beautiful rice fields with a friend we made, a local who owns a restaurant we ate/met him at. He also Took us to "Tanna Nusa" a cool musuem type place that showed all the different cultures, arts, and homes of all the different places in Indonesia.  Rice field. Giri said that you always see the locals taking photos of it constantly. After living in a mountain town I know how easy it is to get used to a beautiful view, it's cool to hear they haven't.  Little Java  The Indonesian version of Ukrainian Easter eggs Theres the ea...

Point A to B and everything in Between

Since I was slacking and haven't made a blog post in awhile, this is going to be a longer one to make up for it, plus we did a lot of cool things worth sharing. I for one think we killed it in Kuala Lumpur, we were there for 2 days only and squeezed a lot of fun stuff in. The staff at La Paloma were so  helpful and told us what was the best to see and how to do it. We navigated our way by foot and even by train around the city, which you should know is a pretty big deal as Natalie and I are both directionly challenged. On the second day we went to the National Mosque, there actually wasn't much to see there and even though we were dressed in baggy clothing they still made you dress in head to toe robes, which turned out to be our favourite part.  Natalie rocking the hijab  And yeah.. We got massages at the national mosque.  We walked to the Orchid Garden afterwards, it was beautiful. It reminded Natalie of her mom and I of my gr...

Sooo Natalie and I had a good day yesterday. We slept almost the entire day then went exploring around the area, found some amazing dim sum for I guess It would have been lupper (lunch/supper) . Then we went back to our hotel which is off Chinatown and is a very classy establishment we ended up just hanging out in the lounge and the staff who are extremley friendly   asked us what our plans were and told us the best places to go for the evening and boy were they ever right.  We went to the sky bar lounge which was directly across from the Twin towers, it was the dopest place I have ever been. The only downside side was the pricing, 15$ for a mohijto that just wasn't evening that good.. Yet it was obviously worth it and we went full tourist taking photos of everything and anything, having a gay old time.  (On the way to the sky bar..... Yum) One of my favourite nights yet in Asia :)

We only spent basically one full day on this island but It was well worth it. I would have to say it was the second best "hotel" we've stayed at which was pleasantly surprising. When we got off the boat to the island instead of getting bombarded by men, who can be seriously pushy, it was all women. And they just chatted with us, helped us find the cheapest spot and we said sure why not and it turned out to be a great choice. It was all little bungalows on a quiet beach, there was tree swings everywhere, a little beach bar, and even a treehouse you could rent out which looked wicked cool. The best part was that it was across from a grocery store, I could spend hours just wandering around Asian grocery stores. It's basically the same at home but of course full of weird and random Asian products. We purchased all our food there, and they had a salad bar yaaaay I was pretty pumped about that, it's hard to find a fresh salad anywhere. (Stormed every night and was...

What's up doc 🏧

Well. I'm mad. I have yet another ear infection in the OPPOSITE ear πŸ˜‘ though the doctor on this island did a heck of a lot more than the one in Sihanoukville. He cleaned out both ears and the amount of gunk that came out was nauseating, meanwhile a girl who was screaming next to me because of a lost toenail was very disracting.. So unfortunately I did not get the chance to go diving in the world renowned waters of Koh Tao.. And probably won't get the chance to until Indonesia, but better to be safe than sorry. I don't feel like spending any more time or money at the doctors office.  Meanwhile Poor Natalie has a nasty Stomache Infection, she's doing better now but was sleeping non stop for a few days and missed out on a lot of the island fun which suuuucks! So we are basically just a couple of lame-o's and have really just done nothing the last two days and taking it easy and recuperating.  Making sure we take our drugs at the same time because they are no...
